Sylvia Park School celebrates becoming the first MPEI-funded project

Sylvia Park Schol celebrates becoming the first MPEI-funded project.

ASB Community Trust has set aside substantial funds for education projects that will promote Maori and Pasifika educational excellence.

In line with our vision and mission, the Trust has decided to address the well-documented issue of the underachievement of Maori and Pasifika children in schools.

Our aim is to make sure these young people can fully engage in New Zealand society and to enable them to develop the capacity and skills to manage and grow their economic base.

Funding confirmed

The seven groups to be funded under MPEI have now been announced.

The initiative is based the following principles:

  • Strategic relevance – funded projects must advance Maori and Pasifika engagement in citizenship through education
  • Projects must be sustainable and outcomes measurable
  • They will be based on partnership and self-help and must have evidence of community ownership
  • Projects must have adequate capacity for delivery

We have called for expressions of interest (EOI) from those who share our vision and we are now assessing those EOI to short-list those we can fund.

Funding announced

The first project to be funded has already been announced. See the Progress Report page for the latest developments.
